This is a simple gluten-free batter for frying vegetables, fish, or taco fillings.
Ingredients
- gluten-free self-raising flour
- soda water
- garlic, blended or finely minced
- chili, blended or finely minced
- black pepper
- any extra herbs or spices you like
- oil, for frying
Ratio
- Use equal parts gluten-free self-raising flour and soda water by volume.
Examples:
- 1 cup flour + 1 cup soda water
- 1/2 cup flour + 1/2 cup soda water
Method
- In a bowl, combine equal parts gluten-free self-raising flour and soda water.
- Add blended garlic, chili, black pepper, and any other herbs or spices you want.
- Mix until you have a smooth batter.
- Heat a few inches of oil in a deep pan, or use a deep fryer.
- Coat vegetables, fish, or taco fillings in the batter.
- Fry until crisp and golden.
- Remove and drain on paper towels or a rack.
Notes
- The reel describes this as a very crisp, golden gluten-free batter.
- The original post does not give exact amounts for the garlic, chili, black pepper, or extra spices, so those are to taste.
- Because the Instagram metadata only exposed the caption-level instructions, the method here is reconstructed into a normal home-cooking format.
